BMW M3 E46 Manual Gearbox Oil Service Kit

The tried and tested solution for replacing the gear oil for in the BMW E46 gearbox.

This kit contains 1 bottle of Red Line MTL and 1 bottle of Red Line D4 ATF. Mixing these two oils together gives the best of both worlds, smooth gear changes and the fantastic protection that Red Line gear oils offer. We have introduced this kit after a lot of research with BMW owners and feedback on many forums.

The gearbox on the BMW M3 E46 takes about 1.6 to 1.7 litres, so there is more than enough oil in this kit to perform the oil change.

We have found that if you use your car all year round, for shorter journeys and you do not really take the car on trackdays then use all of the Red Line D4 ATF gear oil first, then use the Red Line MTL to top up the gearbox. You should have about 200 to 300 ml left of the MTL.

If you use your car on sunny weekends, or it sees a bit of action on the odd trackday then start by filling the gearbox with all of the Red Line MTL and then top up with the Red Line D4 ATF.

Please note.If your car is used more on track than off track, we recommend using just the MTL gear oil as this does provide better high temperature protection.

The Car Service Packs Build Your Own Service Kit lets you select the oil for your car and then add the products that you want to complete the service on your car.

All of our service packs are specifically designed for your car and contain quality oil with the option to buy filters, sump plugs and gear oils for home servicing or taking to your local garage for them to do the service.

Each service kit contains at least enough engine oil for a full oil service and usually there is a little left over for any topping up that is required.
